Villa Renovation in Italy
FORTEVELGI manages villa and country-house renovation projects in Italy, from the first technical assessment to final handover. We coordinate every trade involved and the client always deals with one single point of contact.

We take on complete house renovations as well as individual scopes — masonry works, roofs, facades, building systems, bathrooms and interior finishes — running the site in a defined sequence with an agreed works programme.
Complete villa renovation
A complete villa renovation covers the whole building: layout, structure, envelope, systems and finishes. The planning stage matters most here, because the trades affect each other and have to be executed in the correct order.
Together with the client we define the list of works, the priorities and the site phases, so that time and cost are clear before anything starts.
Structural and masonry works
The most common works in villas are demolition and rebuilding of internal walls, new openings, reinforcements and consolidation. When the project requires it, we work with licensed professionals — structural engineers and surveyors — for the design and supervision of structural works.
Roof renewal, waterproofing and insulation
Roof renewal includes checking the timber structure, replacing the covering, waterproofing and insulating. These works are decisive for the life of the building and for indoor comfort, and they are scheduled together with the other envelope works.
Facades and external thermal insulation
We handle facade repair and renewal: skim coats, renders, paints and external finishes. Where it makes sense, we install an external insulation system to improve energy performance, choosing thickness and materials according to the character of the villa.
Electrical, plumbing and climate systems
In a complete renovation the building systems almost always need replacing. We coordinate qualified specialist firms for electrical, plumbing, heating and air-conditioning works, including the tests and certificates required by Italian regulations.
Bathrooms and interior finishes
New bathrooms and interior finishes — floors, wall tiling, paintwork, doors and details — define the final result. We follow installation and finish quality with checks during the works, in line with the client's selections.
Turnkey villa renovation
With a turnkey renovation the client has one contact for the whole project: we set up the site, coordinate trades and suppliers and manage each work phase through to handover. Where design or planning applications are needed, we work with licensed local professionals.
How we organise the works
Every renovation follows a defined path, so the client always knows where the site stands:
- Site visit and technical assessment of the building
- Definition of works and priorities with the client
- Detailed quotation, item by item
- Site set-up and works programme
- Coordination of trades and supplies
- Execution with checks during the works
- Final inspection and handover
What the cost of a villa renovation depends on
The cost of a renovation cannot be estimated reliably without a site visit. The main factors are:
- Size of the building and number of floors
- Condition of structure, roof and facades
- Extent of the structural and masonry works required
- Full or partial replacement of building systems
- Level of finishes and materials selected
- Site access and logistics for deliveries
Where we work
We work mainly in Central and Northern Italy, with particular focus on the areas north of Rome: Tuscany, Liguria, Lombardy, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and northern Lazio.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does it cost to renovate a villa in Italy?
- The cost depends on size, condition, the extent of structural works and the level of finishes. For this reason the quotation is prepared only after a site visit and a technical assessment of the building.
- How long does a complete renovation take?
- The duration depends on the extent of the works and the sequence of trades. Before starting we agree a works programme with the site phases, so the client knows the expected timeline.
- Can a villa be renovated on a turnkey basis?
- Yes. With a turnkey renovation we take care of site organisation, coordination of the trades and management of the work phases through to handover, with a single point of contact.
- Who coordinates the different trades?
- Coordination of trades and supplies is our responsibility. The client deals with one contact and receives progress updates on the works.
- Can the roof, facade and systems be renewed at the same time?
- Yes, and it is often the most efficient choice: envelope and systems works are scheduled in the correct order to avoid repeated interventions and to shorten the overall programme.
- Is a technical professional required for a major renovation?
- Structural works and works requiring planning applications need a licensed professional. In those cases we work with local engineers, architects and surveyors.
